| Synopsis

DIVANA is an experimental short film (fashion, dance/drama) based on an original screenplay written, directed, shot, and produced by Priyanka Sarkar under “Laidback Productions” with HFBK Hamburg on 16mm analog film. A girl’s romanticism about being in a new city and her desire to find her tribe by movement. The film moves forward with a disco aesthetic and fashion styling as more characters are revealed.

| Biography

Priyanka Sarkar is from New Delhi, India and based in Hamburg pursuing her MFA in film at the HFBK. As a visual artist who primarily uses film and video in experimental, nonlinear time based work, Priyanka’s practise revolves around the theme of freedom and self-discovery by engaging viewers in a dialogue triggered by their cognitive and emotional state. With her bachelors in fashion media communication, her films are highly stylised. Currently, she is expanding her practice with performance due to her deep interest and background in dance.
