| Synopsis

What is narrative? Simply put, it is the way of telling a story. Is dance video a contradiction of narrative or is there a state that is difficult to achieve with words and language that can only be achieved with dance? In this lecture, the veteran critic, Poorboy, who has made a career from analyzing various kinds of dance images, will share with us his observations and thoughts on narrative in dance films.

PoorBoy is a dance film critic who has previously held positions as chief editor of a film magazine and project editor of a performance art magazine. His pieces have also been published by over 20 other arts magazines and websites.

Xiang Jun Fan

| Biography

Xiang holds a Ph.D. in dance research from the Taipei University of the Arts. She is currently working as a post-doctorate researcher on the development of contemporary dance and the construction of dance aesthetic in Taiwan from the perspective of dance history, aesthetics, and body practice. Beyond her research, Xiang works as an educator, dance dramaturg for companies like Anarchy Dance Theater, and as resident critic for several festivals, magazines, and platforms such as the 17th Taishin Arts Award.
