| Synopsis

RADICAL DANCE SERIES (RDS) is an interactive project series of dancing bodies irl and in digital space, which premiered in October 2021 in Hamburg’s urban space. The series deals with movement practices that we all know from everyday life. In standing, walking, sitting and lying together, the RADICAL DANCE project series thus addresses the origin of its idea of radicality (from the Latin radix, the root). “Back to the roots” it is called – just like “let’s get back together”. Choreographic instructions are digitally placed in augmented reality (AR) at selected locations and can be accessed and experienced using a QR code. The RADICAL DANCE SERIES are choreographic food for thought of pausing. With everyday movements and subtle protest structures, they put us in our actual here and now. In pausing, they show common possibilities and simple alternatives beyond an increasingly complex everyday world. Through the immediacy of dance encounters and the participation of the visitor:s through the AR experience, the RDS create individual and collective encounters and enable hybrid dance experiences. RADICAL DANCE SERIES creates decentralized and temporary dance spaces that test utopias of community.
