| SYNOPSIS

Faced by the global pandemic and reawakening of racism, a performer dedicates a moment for personal catharsis through movement. JONTAE began with a research and discussion-based approach. Parallel to our process was the resurgence of systemic racism and discourse around privilege, which inevitably fueled our creative process. Jontae, being the sole performer of this piece, brought us into his experiences as a gay black man living through this time. As collaborators, we felt called to interpret his story through movement.
