Future Futures

Josh Martin stammt ursprünglich aus Alberta, Kanada, und lebt und arbeitet als Tanzmacher und Performer in Vancouver. Inspiriert von der Verschmelzung urbaner und zeitgenössischer Formen erhielt er seine vielseitige Ausbildung in ganz Nordamerika und Europa, wo er in vielen Genres studierte. In seiner laufenden Karriere als Interpret und Kollaborateur hat er mit vielen Kompanien und unabhängigen Choreographen zusammengearbeitet, darunter: Justine A. Chambers, Dana Gingras (Animals of Distinction), Wen Wei Wang (Wen Wei Dance), Tiffany Tregarthen und David Raymond (Out Innerspace Dance Theatre), Helen Walkley, Serge Bennathan (Les Productions Figlio), Vanessa Goodman (Action at a Distance) und als ehemaliges Ensemblemitglied von Ottawau2019s Le Groupe Dance Lab unter der Leitung von Peter Boneham.

Joshs unabhängige Arbeiten wurden in ganz Kanada sowie in den USA, Costa Rica, Japan, Singapur, Taiwan, China, Ungarn und in Deutschland aufgeführt. Sein letztes Solostück, Leftovers, wurde über 50 Mal aufgeführt und mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet (u. a. mit dem 1. Preis für Choreografie beim Internationalen SoloTanz Festival in Stuttgart). Seit über 12 Jahren ist Josh künstlerischer Co-Direktor der Company 605 und kreiert und produziert neue Werke in einem gemeinschaftlichen Prozess in ganz Kanada und auf internationaler Ebene.

Lisa Gelley is a performer, teacher, choreographer, and mother, living and working on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She received her training in classical, contemporary, and urban dance forms in Canada and Europe. In 2007-8, she trained and performed as a guest interpreter at Le Groupe Dance Lab in Ottawa under the direction of Peter Boneham. She has traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel where she carried out two intensive periods of study in Gaga and Batsheva Dance Company repertoire with Ohad Naharin. Lisa’s main focus is now co-directing Company 605, creating original works through collaborative processes with artists in dance and other disciplines. Lisa has performed in works by choreographers including Dana Gingras, Justine A. Chambers, Amber Funk Barton, Vanessa Goodman, Martha Carter, and was a member of Aeriosa (Julia Taffe) for six years, broadening her practice to include vertical contemporary dance in rock climbing systems on urban building walls and mountains. In addition to her work as a performer/choreographer, Lisa values opportunities to connect with young dancers and emerging professionals through contemporary dance education in Vancouver. Lisa is the recipient of the 2015 Vancouver International Dance Festival Choreographic Award.

Brian Johnson is a cinematographer, filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist whose work ranges from traditional filmmaking for broadcast, to visual art, theatre and performance. He is an avid and enthusiastic collaborator as well as an independent artist creating works that tend to operate within the continuum of cinema.

Brian has been winning awards for his cinematography for over 15 years with credits including Sweet Magnolias and The Killing for Netflix/AMC and You Me Her for Direct TV and E-one. His own films and broadcast-based work have been equally fêted with awards and inclusion in festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand’s ISFF and more recently the San Francisco Dance Film Festival where Inheritor Recordings was awarded best cinematography and runner-up for best short. He is currently developing a feature film project with Toronto based novelist David Eddie. Most recently he directed a series of short films titled Future Futures that will launch on the CBC’s streaming platform GEM in the summer of 2022. These films were produced in collaboration with Screen Siren Pictures and Company 605 – one of Canada’s leading dance companies.
